A question about optimising for various cases

Postby darren » Wed Jun 22, 2011 5:47 pm

Hi,

I have looked at the FAQ on MAST page usage but I still have a couple of questions regarding the optimisation of Nebula for various situations.

There are a couple of cases that I am interested in:

1)How to optimise the settings in the MAST page to give the lowest CPU hit possible without degrading the processing quality, trading off with higher latency?

2) Highest processing quality at expense of all other considerations?

In the case of 1), To me, this is the most important as I want to run as many instances of Nebula as possible and mix into them to get that mojo happening while I still have many creative options to explore.

Many thanks

increase DSPBUFFER and push SAVE for 1
Forget all other parameters
For 2 it's already in maximum quality mode

Just to reinforce what giancarlo says, in my experiments processor overheads stayed roughly constant at all values above 512 samples, but increased rapidly below 512 samples.

So for Nebula 3 Reverb I left my DSPBUFFER set to 512 samples, which (for me) was the perfect setting to let me run as many instances as possible but with the lowest latency consistent with this goal ;)
