How come evreyone has sampled most things but...

Microphones? Desks,comps,eq's,tapes and more have been done but no Mics how come?

What gives a microphone its sound has a lot to do with on-axis:off-axis interactions, something that you cannot apply after the fact (since the processor has no way of knowing the performer's position and micro-variations in front of the mics). You can capture the distortion and EQ curve of a mic but that doesn't really mimic the sound of that mic (and you'd probably be better off just applying the EQ and distortion to taste anyway).

Maybe we could say that the sound of a microphone is not something linear? ;)

Remember also that while the sound of desks, comps, EQs and tapes can all be isolated, to capture the sound of a mic without the sound of the room it's in would require an anechoic chamber.

Not many people would like the combination of expensive mic in someone's bedroom :lol:
