DSPBuffer lowers L FreqD?

I'm slightly confused about the relation between DSPBuffer and L FreqD when using a Nebula Reverb instance. I'm using all my Nebula effects realtime so I need the buffer as low as possible. However, when I lower the buffer, it also lowers my L Freq D setting. Should this be the case?

For example, when I lower the buffer to 128, the maximum setting I can have for L FreqD is .186s which makes it unusable for most effects (reverbs, eqs, etc.)

Can anyone shed some light on this? I have an extremely fast computer, so I'm not so concerned about processor usage.
