Glitching Before Audio File Plays

Postby sfunk » Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:30 pm

Has anyone noticed this? When i am working on a mix and listen from the start some audio files will glitch just as they are about to play back, seems to be something in the buffer? Is there any setting to correct this? Its quite annoying as it also happens during off line bounces. I have always had this problem right up to the current most up to date AU Neb.

Seems like audio buffer are not clear at stop. Can you make a small project showing the issue, upload and send us the link.

normally those problems are host-related.
your daw takes care of the buffers.
so what host? system?

in samplitude i have some options to circumvent such glitches.

mathias
system 1: windows 8 32 bit - samplitude prox, tracktion6, reaper
system 2: mac osx yosemite - reaper(32+64bit), tracktion6(32+64bit)

both systems on: macbook pro (late 2009), core 2 duo 3,06 ghz, 4 gb ram, graphic: nvidia geforce 9600M GT 512 MB

what audio host are you using. that is a huge problem for me with Logic Pro. the work around is to put a silent piece of audio on every single track at a specific location after the song. before you go to bounce... locate to the spot after the song and hit play. all the plugins will clear their buffers and you can then do the bounce with no glitches. this also happens in waveburner.

Yep Logic Pro 9 for me. Interesting its host based. I must try it in Nuendo. Perhaps this is a problem with the AU version? You are right though it is a huge problem and very frustrating, some much so its making me think of firing up my UAD Quad again and leaving Neb for the occassional off line bounce, its no good if you cant use it without these glitches
Funny the though occured to me that i could put some silence to trick it into clearing the buffer. I'll try that later. Thanks very much

I think it's related to tail size... I guess we are not using it correctly

Same thing. But from time to time.I think it have to do with some bad settings in my master page too. It's strange...I didn't even try to troubleshoot it, my schedule being so crazy. One issue at a time.Any idea is welcome...
