Gold is the latest plugin conceived, designed and created by Acustica Audio.

The realization of GOLD is the result of our continuous hunt for vintage and rare outboard and our desire to achieve perfection in our emulations.
This plug-in represents the most unique offering on the market for any lover of the sound of the legendary vintage British consoles.
The rarity of emulated devices, the detail in the emulations, the design work… all this makes this plug-in as precious as pure gold…

Five different equalizers, two extremely rare compressors, seven preamplifiers and a routing control section prove how this is one of the most complex and complete ACQUA plugins ever released.
Anyone in search for faithful emulations simply must try this vintage British channel strip (complete with its standalone modules).
Acustica has decided to create an Anthology (Analog Dreamware Anthology) plug-in. It's not just a series of plug-ins: our goal is to provide all customers with a complete collection enclosing all inestimable outboard of the past.. in order to realize our goal we are ready to hunt them down to the ends of the earth.

1. Analog

- About analog modeling

“It’s no secret that the sound of our creations is different from all the others. Better or worse, nobody can deny that they are unique in every respect.
Our approach is based on sampling; by using FIR filters we have also a clean, almost alias free  signal with a beautiful frequency/phase response up to Nyquist frequency. Long kernels allow to reduce ripple without introducing the typical errors of IIR implementations (no oversampling needed, no decramp filters, no lowpass filters, no phase issues or approximations)”.

2. Dreamware

- What we do

We are finally doing something new: a software which in a certain way is really superior to both a classic software approach (circuit modeling) and an existing real hardware created from a specific design.
The first would be sterile; it would sound like a “plugin” because of the usual IIR phase issues and not precise harmonic distortion introduced by "ideal circuit modeling". The second would include many physical world limitations.
This is the reason why we don’t use an “algorithmic” approach: Acustica uses ‘samples’ of real gears and the resulting sound proves to be amazingly authentic!

Our Anthology captures the spirit and essence of our plug-ins.
The goal is to provide all customers with the best collection of vintage commercially available hardware.
We are willing to improve our technology day after day, in order to create the most faithful emulations on the market, always aiming to achieve the best possible quality.

PREAMPS

GOLD preamps are based on a collection of various hardware units and emulate the phase, harmonic and frequency response distortions of their corresponding circuits.
The standalone version (GOLDPRE) and GOLD channel-strip version are composed by 2 different slots of PREAMPS ( 7 preamps derived directly from sampled devices and 7 additional Tube preamps)
This carefully chosen combination of preamps is intended to provide the customers with a virtual console emulation with many flexible options.
The best use of these colors can only be decided by the user on a case per case basis and the engineer’s final judgment should always depend on his or her own ears and imagination. (For details please read our user's manual)

8066

The 8066 is a Class A, discrete Microphone preamplifier and 4-band Equalizer, with a built-in high pass filter and low pass filter.
Fat sound typical low end, with the sensible midrange points and sweet hi end.
These units were found in numerous consoles of the day and are still the equipment to go when the highest audio quality is needed.

33122 has 4 bands of switched frequency eq along with a stepped HPF and LPF.
It is without a doubt one of the best built and sounding pieces of audio gear that anyone can use. The sound of classic british device outboard gear is the sound that is heard on thousands of great albums.
Using his preamp you can add the great sound of early 1970’s original console.

Designed in 1972 until today engineers have found the 1081 an indispensable tool for recording and mixing.

As with all “british” outboard gear, users are assured the highest quality signal acquisition, thanks to uncompromising Class AB circuitry, hand wound “british” designed transformers, and unrivalled attention to every last component and construction detail.

Designed in 1972 until today engineers have found the 1081 an indispensable tool for recording and mixing.

This EQ emulation is the same of 8093 but in this case the fixed Q is in shape mode.

H073 EQ has revisited one of the most revered EQ on the planet, not least because of the sheer number of hits it has helped produce over the last 40 years, the fact it is manufactured to the original specification of the original module as designed in 1970 and because it is still manufactured completely in England.
We decided to include in the EQ pack this “do-it-your-self” gear chosen for its incredible sound.

Description

The 8052 compressor/limiter was the predecessor to the 8054. The first compressor equipped with germanium transistors with a 24v positive ground power supply. This Compressor is a masterpiece!

Description

The original hardware was created in 1969 as continuation of previous unit (8052)
8254 sound is often described as “smooth and creamy”. It’s a Classic compressor that use the Diode Bridge compression type.

  • 8252 button to activate 8252 COMP
  • Ratio: This knob set the compression ratio, available values range from LINEAR to 10:1, LIM
  • Gain Reduction meter: GAIN REDUCTION METER measures the reduction level applied by compressor, the meter
    indicates '0' in the absence of an input signal or any gain reduction. If the signal exceeds the compression threshold or limit level, the amount of gain reduction is displayed.
  • Makeup: This knob sets the gain compensation and is design to boost the compressed signal from 0dB to +20dB.
  • Release: This knob sets compressor’s release time that range from 75ms to 6000ms (6k).
  • Attack: This knob sets compressor’s attack time from 1 ms to 16 ms
  • Threshold: This knob sets -20dBu to +10dBu.
  • INS button engages the INSANE* mode of the compressor
  • SC button: this button (in GOLD COMP standalone verson) enables the external side-chain** of the compressor.
  • SH mode: this is the Shape modulation of the attack envelope.

*This mode has been implemented to increase the accuracy and speed of the compressor but it’s more expensive (in terms of CPU usage).

** GOLD STRIP version has external side-chain included in CONTROL section. It’s possible to set the routing of the components, more details at pag X.
